ConnectWise Consulting

The Importance of Using a Business Consultant During Growth

August 1, 2023/in Blog, Business Consulting, ConnectWise

As a business embarks on a growth journey, it faces a myriad of challenges and opportunities. Whether it’s expanding into new markets, increasing market share, or diversifying product lines, navigating through growth requires careful planning and strategic decision-making. In such crucial times, the expertise and guidance of a business consultant can prove to be invaluable. In this blog post, we’ll explore the importance of using a business consultant during periods of growth and how their insights can lead to sustainable success.

Objective Perspective

During periods of growth, businesses may find themselves caught up in the excitement and challenges of expansion. In such situations, internal teams can become biased and subjective when evaluating strategies and decision-making processes. A business consultant brings an objective perspective to the table, free from any internal biases. They are independent professionals who can critically analyze the organization’s current state, challenges, and potential opportunities without being influenced by internal politics or emotions. With their unbiased viewpoint, consultants can identify hidden inefficiencies, organizational bottlenecks, and areas where the company might be missing out on growth prospects. By leveraging this fresh perspective, business leaders can make more informed and rational decisions, leading to a more effective growth strategy.

Strategic Planning

Growth without a well-structured and comprehensive strategic plan can be akin to sailing without a map. A business consultant plays a pivotal role in strategic planning during periods of growth. They work closely with the leadership team to understand the company’s vision, goals, and growth aspirations. Based on this understanding, the consultant collaborates with the organization to develop a clear and actionable growth strategy.

The consultant’s expertise in strategic planning ensures that the growth plan aligns with the company’s core values, strengths, and long-term objectives. Moreover, they assist in setting realistic milestones, breaking down complex goals into manageable tasks, and developing a timeline to monitor progress effectively. A well-crafted strategic plan gives the organization a roadmap to navigate growth challenges, seize opportunities, and remain agile in a dynamic business environment.

Market Insights and Expansion

Entering new markets or launching new products/services can be risky endeavors without proper research and insights. A business consultant brings market expertise to the table, offering valuable insights and data-driven analysis to support expansion decisions. Through in-depth market research, consultants assess market trends, competitor landscape, target audience preferences, and potential challenges. This information is instrumental in identifying the right market segments to target, understanding customer needs, and positioning products or services effectively. Furthermore, a consultant can guide the business through market entry strategies, recommending the most suitable approach for expansion. They can assist in evaluating the risks involved and devising contingency plans to address potential obstacles. By leveraging market insights, companies can confidently venture into new territories, mitigating risks and optimizing growth opportunities.

Resource Optimization

During times of growth, businesses often need to allocate resources wisely to support expansion initiatives. Resource optimization is critical to ensure that the company is using its finances, workforce, and technology efficiently and effectively. A business consultant brings expertise in resource management, helping organizations assess their current resource allocation and identify areas for improvement. They conduct cost-benefit analyses, scrutinize budgets, and suggest cost-cutting measures without compromising the quality of operations. Consultants also play a crucial role in talent management during growth. They assist in evaluating the workforce’s skill sets, identifying talent gaps, and recommending hiring or upskilling strategies to meet the demands of the expansion. By optimizing resources, businesses can make the most of their investments, enhancing productivity and profitability throughout the growth phase.

In conclusion, utilizing the services of a business consultant during periods of growth is essential for businesses seeking sustainable success. Their objective perspective, strategic planning capabilities, market insights, and resource optimization expertise provide a solid foundation for making informed decisions and navigating growth challenges effectively. By leveraging the unique skill set of a consultant, organizations can accelerate their growth trajectory while maintaining a clear and purposeful approach to expansion. ConnectWise Streamlines Operations

March 19, 2023/in Blog, ConnectWise, Operations

In today’s world, where technology is rapidly advancing, businesses must use software systems like ConnectWise to streamline their operations and improve their bottom line and ConnectWise streamlines operations seamlessly. ConnectWise is a software platform that can help businesses develop a sustainable strategy for their operations by leveraging their existing software systems.

ConnectWise is a software solution designed for managed service providers (MSPs) and businesses that provides a suite of tools for managing their operations, including customer relationship management (CRM), project management, billing, and more. In this blog post, we will explore how ConnectWise software can help businesses develop a sustainable strategy for their operations.

 A Sustainable Operations Strategy

One of the primary ways ConnectWise can help businesses develop a sustainable strategy for their operations is by integrating with their existing software systems. ConnectWise is designed to integrate with a wide range of software systems including those involved with:

  • Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Sales

By integrating with these systems, businesses can streamline their operations and improve their efficiency, resulting in significant cost savings.

Efficient Project Management

Another way ConnectWise can help businesses develop a sustainable strategy for their operations is by providing a central location for managing their projects. With ConnectWise, businesses can create and manage projects, assign tasks to team members, track progress, and more. This helps businesses stay organized and on track, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

A Complete CRM Tool

ConnectWise also provides businesses with a CRM solution that can help them manage their customer relationships. With ConnectWise’s CRM, businesses can track customer interactions, manage leads, and automate marketing campaigns. This helps businesses improve their customer service and increase their customer retention rates.

 Powerful Billing Solution

In addition to these features, ConnectWise provides businesses with a powerful billing solution that can help them automate their invoicing and payment processes. With ConnectWise’s billing solution, businesses can create invoices, send them to customers, and track payments. This helps businesses improve their cash flow and reduce their administrative burden.

There is no doubt that ConnectWise streamlines operations and is a wise business choice, and while ConnectWise provides businesses with a single operational platform, we have found that most clients get overwhelmed with integrating into their businesses, which is why we created a ConnectWise All Inclusive Partnership called TeamFocus. This partnership allows us to partner with your team and will empower your business to maximize your sales processes, your operational systems, and your finance tools by using existing systems like ConnectWise.

FocusPlanit is one of the industry’s premier ConnectWise® Consultants serving the entire United States. Contact us today and let us be your partner in success. You can learn more about our offerings and team on our website.

Connectwise

The ONE Tool Your Business Needs

September 19, 2022/in Blog, Business Tools, ConnectWise

The one tool your business needs, as told by our CEO Bill Black. I don’t watch a lot of mindless television. I’d rather kick back and fly my Microsoft Flight Simulator or read a book.  The other day, however, the in-laws were visiting, and I thought I should at least be in the same room as them. They were watching a show called “Help I Wrecked My House!”  On the show, HGTV favorite Jasmine Roth helps guide homeowners through fixing DIY projects gone horribly wrong. From a hodgepodge of minor mistakes to unlivable nightmares, the show features homeowners who have overestimated their DIY and project management abilities. I couldn’t help but be reminded of similar stories I’ve seen clients face because they did not have the ONE tool needed to help their business run smoothly, ConnectWise.

The Answer To All Your Stress

Getting ConnectWise up and running properly with all the capabilities requires a lot of time and experience. It’s tough. When your ConnectWise isn’t working as designed, it doesn’t only wreck the functionality, it also places stress on you and your team relationships. If you log in every day and have looming projects, deadlines, and other fires, you just don’t know how to move forward.  So being able to fix your ConnectWise and make everything work well together for your team is special.

I can’t help but think of all the DIY ConnectWise projects that have gone wrong, featuring business owners that have overestimated their available time or ability to successfully implement and properly maintain the software. The FocusPlanIT Team has been able to roll up our sleeves and help get ConnectWise working properly while helping MSPs and their teams become more productive by using all the features that ConnectWise has to offer.

Hire Help!

Stop allowing your ConnectWise programs to control you and start focusing your efforts on building a better workflow by utilizing a ConnectWise consulting partner. Simple goals can seem overwhelming when you don’t know where to start. A consulting partner can help turn those goals into measurable solutions. Master your systems by partnering with a ConnectWise consultant in order to bring new revenue into your business. A strategic partner can help you develop the right strategy to meet your business goals, support in your sales processes, operational systems, and your finance tools, so you can keep your business running smoothly.

Your ACTION List:

  1. Sit down with your in-laws and watch TV. (Or, just give yourself 30 minutes of mindless TV)

leading a remote workforce

Leading a Remote Workforce

July 18, 2022/in Blog, Leadership

The workplace landscape has changed and now more than ever it’s important to master leading a remote workforce. But what does this mean? Being a good leader means you have a clear vision, and a path to get there.  You empower others to contribute their piece of the vision. As a result, you build a team that feels significant and motivated.

Transparency is Key

So, now the question is how do you be a great leader with a remote workforce?  Managing remote employees changes the dynamic of leadership and requires an additional set of skills. The first of these is transparency. Communication and availability are key attributes to a successful remote leader.

The best leaders engage remote employees in frequent and authentic conversation. They intentionally schedule “touch-base” calls to ensure they are communicating frequently and effectively.  During these calls, don’t underestimate the basic but direct questions including “How are you doing”, “Is there anything frustrating you?” or “How can I help make your day more effective?”

Get creative in your communication, schedule virtual team coffees and happy hours and have special baskets delivered that go along with the theme. These types of activities go a long way in making your team feel engaged and connected even from afar. Regardless of the method, be mindful to communicate often and be transparent.

Set Clear Boundaries and Guidelines

Leaders should also prioritize the development of clear boundaries and guidelines. At its most basic level, this involves assisting employees in defining their availability.  Clearly define when the employee will be working, leaving no room for ambiguity. Also, what is the best way to reach the employee at home?  If additional personal challenges such as childcare and homeschooling are involved, how will the employee address these challenges?

The typical leadership characteristics still apply when leading remotely. A good leader will still need to understand team dynamics. He or she needs to create and communicate a clear vision.  Provide coaching and mentorship when needed.

 Effective Technology and Tools

Whether you are thinking about going remote or already are, perform an IT audit to make sure you have all the necessary technology and tools to set your team up for success. These include but are not limited to:

  • Videoconferencing app
  • Mobile Hotspot
  • Remote Desktop
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Project Management Software
  • Automation Tool
  • Team Chat App
  • Centralized File Sharing
  • Security Tools

Then you must ensure that all these tools are well integrated into your processes. For example, all customer notes must be documented for cross-company communication, sales quotes must be integrated with billing software, and so on.  It’s one thing to have the tools but it’s another to use them effectively.

Many of our clients find that it is necessary to implement a consulting company like FocusPlanit to ensure they make effective changes to streamline their tools and grow the business.

FocusPlanit serves the entire United States and is the industry’s premier team of highly qualified ConnectWise, QuickBooks, Wise-Sync, GoZynta, CharTec, ConnectBooster experts who have dedicated years of their professional life implementing and optimizing these solutions. When To Fire A Client

When To Fire A Client

June 17, 2022/in Blog, Office Management

As a consulting firm, we find most clients to be a pleasure to work with, but sometimes you end up with a client so difficult that, to protect your time, reputation, and your company, you need to politely fire them. Here’s how to fire a client as painlessly as possible so you can get back to business.

No one wants to fire a client. They pay us money, they have interesting projects, and sometimes they become our friends. Then there’s the other kind of client; the one who is such a nightmare to work with that your business starts to lose money and morale.

Valid Reasons For When To Fire A Client

  • Lack of communication
  • No acknowledgment of expertise
  • Unconstructive, hostile, or offensive criticism
  • Unethical business practices
  • Unwillingness to share frustrations
  • Unreasonable expectations
  • Inability to afford services

 Plan Your Exit Strategy

 Step 1: Get Involved

If you are the owner, have a hands-on approach, gather, and document as much information as you can to protect your brand. Determine how you can reduce your workload with the client so there won’t be much left to complete in order to complete your relationship with them. Start turning down any new assignments and decline to sign a new contract.

Step 2: Don’t talk yourself out of it.

Many business owners are concerned to fire a client for fear of a negative effect on their business reputation but remind yourself that the time you will save not dealing with their nonsense will open up an opportunity to find and secure an ideal client who will pay you more and, more importantly, treat you better. In addition, think about the example you are setting for your employees, an example that will make them feel company pride and feel valued if they were involved in any of the negative dealings.

Step 3: Write a professional letter

It’s important to let your client know in writing that you do not plan to continue the working relationship. This enables you to establish a clear exit plan with end dates and project closure. The resignation or disengagement letter may also be an opportunity to let the client know what was not working in the relationship in hopes that the client may change their behavior for the better when they work with other partners in the future.

Feel Good About Your Decision

Firing bad clients helps create the time and energy you need to take on those dream clients who are waiting in the wings to take your small business to the next level. Suddenly, work will no longer feel like a hassle. Instead, you will feel good, knowing you made the right business decision. You’ll be able to enjoy balanced, challenging, and lucrative projects with clients you appreciate and who appreciate the value you bring them.

Trust us, we know firsthand how difficult it is to fire a client, but as a consulting firm we also know ho important it is to engage with partners who appreciate the value we bring to their operations.
